태극기를 한글로 소개하기

태극기는 조선조 말(1882년)에 박영효가 제작하였는데, 이것은 동양철학에 근거하여 고안되었다. 흰색의 바탕은 우리 민족의 동질성, 순수함, 평화, 백의민족을 상징하고, 청색과 홍색으로 이루어진 태극은 음과 양, 하늘과 땅, 인간과 자연의 조화를 나타내고, 모서리에 있는 4 괘는 우주만물의 발전을 뜻한다.

Taegeukgi (Korean National Flag) was devised on the basis of the Oriental philosophy, by Park Younghyo in the last Joseon era in 1882. The white background symbolizes equality, purity, peace and the white-clad Korean people. The Taegeuk pattern in the center of the flag expresses the harmony of the cosmic dual forces-Yin and Yang, Heaven and Earth, and human and nature. The 4 gwaes (divination sign) in each corner mean the development of the whole creation.

太極旗は朝鮮王朝の末期（1882年）、朴英孝によって作られたものだが、これは東洋哲学に基づいて考案されたのである。百地はわが民族の同質性、純粋さ、平和、白衣の民俗を象徴しており、青と赤色の対極は陰と陽、天と地、人間と自然の調和を表し、4卦は宇宙万物の発展のことを意味するのである。
