덕수궁(德壽宮)은 조선조 9대 왕인 성종이 그의 형 월산대군을 위해 건축한 사저인데, 1593년부터 선조가 사용함으로써 궁궐이 되었다. 덕수궁은 근대역사의 중심지였기 때문에 다른 왕궁에는 없는 서양식 건축양식과 동양식 건축양식이 서로 어우러져 있으며, 자격루(물시계)와 수문장(守門將) 교대의식이 유명하다.

Deoksugung (Palace) was a private residence of the prince Weolsan's. The 9th king of Joseon dynasty Seongjong, built it for his elder brother Weolsangun. It then became the palace in 1593 when King Seonjo used it as his residence. Deoksugung is situated in the central part of the modern history in Korea. The palace is a blending of the western and eastern construction styles. Deoksugung is famous for the Jagyeokru(a water clock) and the changing of the commanders of the guards ceremony.

徳寿宮は朝鮮時代第9代国王である成宗が自分の兄である月山大君のため築いた邸宅である。豊臣秀吉の侵略を受け都を離れていた宣祖王が帰郷した際（1593年）、京福宮の代わりに使用したので宮殿となった。徳寿宮は近代歴史の中心地だったので、他の宮殿にはない西洋式の建築様式と東洋式建築様式が折衷した特異なスタイルに生まれ変わった。自撃漏という水時計と守門将の交代式が有名である。
