수원화성은 조선조 정조 왕이 수원으로 천도하기 위해서 1796년에 완공한 성곽이다. 이 수원성은 실학자 정약용 등이 연구한 과학적인 설계를 바탕으로 정교하게 이루어졌으며, 길이가 5,525m, 높이가 7m이다. 세계문화유산으로 지정되었다.

Suweonseong (citadel fortress) was constructed in 1796 by king Jeongjo of the Joseon dynasty. King Jeongjo ordered it built because he wanted to transfer the capital to Suweon. The citadel fortress is elaborately constructed and based on the scientific design drawings of Jeong-Yagyong and his school of realism. This 5,525 meter tall and 7 meter wide citadel fortress was designated as the world cultural asset by UNESCO.
