나전칠기를 한글로 소개하기

나전칠기도 우리나라의 대표적인 공예품이다. 나전은 「자개」라는 뜻이고 나전칠기는 나전 위에 옻칠을 해서 만든 공예품(화장대, 교자상, 여성들의 생활용품 등)을 말한다. 나무로 만든 기본 틀에 여러 가지 문양의 나전을 조각해 붙이고, 그 위에 옻칠을 연마하여 광기를 냄으로써 아름답고 부식을 막을 수 있다. 경남 통영에서 많이 생산된다.

Najeon Chilgi is also a representative handicraft of Korea. Najeon means the mother-of-pearl, and Chilgi means the lacquer handicrafts. Various kinds of female goods like a dresser, a dining table and household articles were made by putting the lacquer over the Najeon attached utensils. To make the handicrafts, Najeon in various patterns are engraved and glued over the surface of the wooden frame. Next, the lacquer is painted over the Najeon and then polished. The lacquer makes the articles look beautiful and prevents decay. The Najeon Chilgi made in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam province, are renowned.

螺鈿漆器もわが国の代表的な工芸品である。ナジョンチルギはナジョンの上に漆を塗って作られた工芸品（鏡台、鏡盤、女性の生活用品）のことをいう。木材で作られた原形に様々な模様のナジョンの彫刻を付け、その上に漆を塗って美しい光を出し腐蝕も防ぐ。慶尚南道の統営で、主に作られている。
